NEW DIES and NEW STAMPS at Your Maine Stamper this week!

Lots of new dies from Memory Box are now on a spinner rack right next to the shelves and table displays.  The table has a few of the newest dies along with some samples; and there are new stamps on the shelves!  So many have flown right out the door since they arrived on Saturday morning and I'm getting another order ready to send Tuesday evening.  If there's anything you want from Memory Box, be sure to call Lydia at the store during the day on Tuesday so your items get added to this order.  There are still a few Memory Box stamps left that have been marked with a green dot and reduced to 50% off--these are stamps that have been discontinued and once they are gone, they are gone.

Impression Obsession sent some new stamps last week, too.  There's a beautiful gazebo scene--it looks like the one on the Common in Gardiner.  Great for those of you who like to add color with pencils or markers to your stamped images.  DRS stamps also arrived. There are a few stamps that would be perfect for guy cards, especially the jumping fish and Fishing Rules.

Check out all of the decorative brads on the pegboard next to the front door!  And all of the flowers on the other front peg board!  Quite a few new items there as well.

More items have been added to the red dot specials cart and to the off-season shelves in the second part of the shop.  Some good bargains to be had there!

Remember that we're collecting handmade cards for Operation Write Home until May 18th.  Join us that day, Armed Forces Day, to create cards for this project!  Card-making starts at 11 AM that Saturday until 2 PM.  Let's see how many cards we can make in three hours!!!

MEMORY BOX is here! Ready for pick-up this afternoon!

I'm heading into the shop shortly to help unpack, price, and display the newest stamps and dies from Memory Box!  They arrived just a few minutes ago and I'm soooo excited to see it all!

If you placed an advance order, your items will be ready for pick-up after 1 o'clock today for sure!

I'm also working up a new order this weekend--if there's anything you'd like to special order, call the shop today!

Operation Write Home @ Your Maine Stamper

Anne here.  I've signed up to participate in OPERATION WRITE HOME.  Operation Write Home's mission:  To support our nation's armed forces by sending blank greeting cards to write home on.

Our Remember the Troops event at Your Maine Stamper on May 18th, Armed Forces Day, will include an all-day make it session with me to create cards to be sent to Operation Write Home for distribution.  I will collect the handmade cards made that day as well as any received at Your Maine Stamper by May 18th and will prepare them for shipment and send them out for processing.  Won't you help families receive happy mail from their loved ones serving in the armed forces?

Here are the basic guidelines for creating cards for this project.

  • NO GLITTER.  Seriously, it is a safety hazard for our heroes.  If it flakes off, it can't go.
  • A2 SIZED CARDS.  4.25" X 5.5" -- pre-made cards or half a sheet of card stock.
  • NO STOREBOUGHT CARDS.  Do not repurpose parts of old cards into handmade ones either.
  • LIMIT MULTIPLES.  Maximum quantity for any one design is 30 cards.
  • DO NOT VIOLATE COPYRIGHT LAWS.  It is illegal to use photography, cartoons, or illustrations, art from magazines, catalogs or books on cards with Operation Write Home on the back.  (I have a special stamp from them and will mark each card,)  Purchased papercrafting items are okay to use.
  • LINE DARK CARDS.  If your card base is not white on the inside, please add light paper.  If you can't see pencil on it, add a liner.
  • DO NOT HANDWRITE SENTIMENTS.  If you don't have a sentiment stamp to go with your card, let it be a blank card.  Blank cards are the most useful anyway!
  • INCLUDE AN ENVELOPE FOR EACH CARD.  But do not put the card in the envelope.  There is a special way these need to be packaged.
Theme ideas:  Love/miss you; thanks, birthday, general all-occasion blank cards
Remember that both men and women serve in the armed forces and will be using the cards we make to write messages to loved ones at home.  Think about cards appropriate to send to spouses, parents, children, friends.

Staying out of the Card Hospital
The Card Hospital hosts problem cards until the shipper has time for triage.  Check your cards for these common issues before donating them to me.
  • Glitter.  If it rubs off at all, it can't be sent.
  • Dark card bases without liners OR with so much design that there is no place to write
  • Orphan embellishments or die cuts falling off--not enough or bad adhesive
  • Inappropriate themes (new baby announcement, invitation, etc.); stick with more general themes listed above.
I will stamp each card with the Operation Write Home logo, tuck it correctly into the envelope (they actually have a specific way to put these in envelopes called "The Tuck"), sort them by theme, and mail them to the shipper for processing.

I hope that you will participate in this project, either by mailing to or dropping off cards with their envelopes at Your Maine Stamper or by participating in the card making day at the shop on May 18th.

Thanks!  For more information, you can visit their website at http://operationwritehome.org.

This week at Your Maine Stamper, through Saturday April 20th

We are anxiously awaiting deliveries by the UPS guy this week!  And I'll be sure to post when the newest stamps and dies arrive!  If you haven't heard, Impression Obsession has a new line of dies, so new that they won't even have a catalog out until the end of the month.  Lydia ordered a bunch when she placed the stamp order awhile ago.  Some of us have seen the ones that Jeanne Amburg brought back from Florida where she attended an Impression Obsession trunk show.  So cute--great designs with embossed details on the die cuts.  And the stamps are terrific as well--new sentiments and lots of flowers for spring.  Memory Box stamps and dies should also be arriving soon, too!

Saturday, April 13th at Your Maine Stamper

The latest House Mouse of the Month stamp has arrived--Amanda in a pot of flowers.  So cute!  This is probably the last House Mouse stamp we are going to be able to get from our wholesalers as the business is taking a new direction with direct-to-customer on-line sales.  We have a nice selection of House Mouse stamps for many occasions throughout the year.  And once they are gone, they are gone. Check out the display!  And pick up the newest stamp with the coordinating sentiment stamp!

The other major stamp company featured in the same area of the shop is Stamps by Judith & Heather.  We have a good variety of tiny and larger peg stamps, great for card backgrounds and tags.  Their stamps are unique, with a sort of country flair.  They also have a quirky side, with the Frazzled Cat and the Dorky Bird, for example.  This time of year, there's a great large birdhouse that would be fun to use.

It has been a quiet week at the shop.  Friday's forecast and eventual weather certainly wasn't encouraging people to get out and about much.  We hope you'll drop in Saturday to see what's new--lots of new displays this week, new stamps from Hero Arts, new mid-tone inks from Hero Arts, more papers and embellishments from Graphic 45 French Country and Secret Garden, and more.  There are some new flowers that arrived Friday that coordinate with those two lines as well as other papers and blank cards in the shop.

Remember to come to our April Showers Bring May Flowers event next Saturday, the 20th.  Free Make & Take die cut flowers in the morning with Anne.  Call the store to sign up for Anne's class in the afternoon which will use the newest Memory Box stamps and all of the new Hero Arts inks to make a collection of 6-8 cards, all for $15.

There are many new displays and lots of new products featured this week at Your Maine Stamper.

The front counter by the cash register showcases the newest stamps from Hero Arts.

The French Country Collection from Graphic 45 has its own table now, with 12X12 papers, 6X6 pads, stickers and chipboard embellishments, gold ribbon by the spool, a selection of French words stamps and all of the rooster stamps we have in the store.  My favorite is the rooster designed by our own Courtney Ricker.

The Graphic 45 Secret Garden Collection shares a table with Bo Bunny's Country Garden 6X6s and stickers as well as spring and flower stamps.  We have birdhouses to paint, stamp, and decorate, too.

There are many new dies from Memory Box in that area of the store--lots of the new cats and dogs from PoppyStamps, too.

The Beach theme has taken over a larger space on one table--lots of cool stamps, stickers, brads, etc., perfect for scrapbooking that tropical winter vacation!  And there are lighthouses, lobsters, seashells, and more for your Maine summer cards and pages!

Memory Box Green Dot SALE!  Discontinued items have been marked with a green dot and are now 35% off.  There are two dies and a number of stamps.  Check it out!

We are expecting a delivery soon from Impression Obsession with many many new floral stamps.  I can't wait for them to arrive! And dies and stamps from the Memory Box April 2013 release are on their way as well!

Hope to see you soon!!!

SATURDAY, April 6th! FREE MAKE & TAKE CARDS/TAGS

Come in on Saturday and play with the NEW Graphic 45 Secret Garden papers!  Lydia has a FREE Make & Take planned using images from this double-sided May Flowers page to create your own card and tag!  These blocks are perfectly sized for card makers.  Because the designs are different on each side, two pieces of paper will give you 12 different images for cards.  I use these blocks in my journals for note-taking and they also work great on scrapbook pages.  LOVE LOVE LOVE this paper line!!!

Memory Box Green Dot sale:  A number of stamps and dies have been discontinued at Memory Box and are no longer available for purchase.  I've marked them with a green dot sticker and Lydia is discounting them 35%OFF on Saturday.  My favorite stamp "Leafy Sprout" is one and there's a great large scallop circle die.  Scoop up a bargain!

The Memory Box/PoppyStamps order has been sent in this week as well as one to Impression Obsession.  Lots of new products will arrive with in the next two-three weeks.  Memory Box has a new line of stamps and dies--check our Outside the Box blog next week for two posts each day just on ideas using the new stamps.

NEW IN THE SHOP THIS WEEK:

More inks in NEW colors from Hero Arts!  These are the mid-tone inks.  It's so neat to see how they work, as the color softens and blends when left to dry.  They are great direct to paper inks for making lovely backgrounds.

NEW stamps from Hero Arts. including a number of florals that are hot off the press.

AND MORE!!!

Honestly, I can't keep up with everything that has been arriving in the last two weeks!  The store is full of all kinds of things--stamps, papers, embellishments, inks, tools, etc.
