World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family and to kick off the holiday card-making season.

The first Saturday of each October is the date for this annual event.  The card-making community worldwide, including hobbyists, beginning card makers, manufacturers of card-making products, retail sellers of products, educators, and press are invited to come together to celebrate this creative passion.  It is a day to connect with fellow card makers, both near and far, to applaud the creativity that powers the craft, and to provide and opportunity for card makers to connect and find resources that will empower, inspire, and encourage them in their card-making.

World Card Making Day began in 2006 as National Card Making Day.  Founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006.  The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on.

Celebrating its fifth year in 2010, World Card Making Day Ocotber 2nd is a day for the card-making community--hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers--to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is at the heart of card making.

NEWS FLASH:  Courtney Ricker has some new stamp designs just in time for the holidays!  Proofs are going out next week to the company that will make the stamps and we're hoping to have them in stock by mid-October.  We have tentatively scheduled October 23rd for Courtney to teach a class using these newest images which are Christmas-themed and include recipe tags and more.  Lydia has copies of the designs in the store and will take reservations for stamps (and for the class) when you stop by.

What's in Stock?  There are new samples around the store and lots of great new products for fall.  Lydia is particularly excited about the response to the EK Success punches--maple leaf, Rudolph, bat, gingerbread man, tree, and snowflake.  These slimline punches are easy to use and oh-so-cute!

Paper   Paper   Paper   We've got paper!  Lots of new designs particularly for fall and the holidays!  We just restocked the 6X6s from Memory Box for both the Blackbird and Wassail collections.

Tons of New Bo Bunny and other papers in!

You are just going to LOVE LOVE LOVE the newest papers that arrived this week.  Lots of 12X12s for the HOLIDAYS!  Some in the more traditional red and green, some cranberry/maroon and mossy green, and some that are light greens and lavenders!  I have really been looking for papers for my holiday cards that are nontraditional to use with some of the newest Memory Box stamps.  These really fit the bill!  We also have the cardstock stickers that are just perfect!  And don't forget that we have all kinds of blingy embellishments that coordinate--jewels, pearls, brads, etc.
