Just had to share Kellie's Crafting Surprise!

Aren't these the cutest bookmarks ever?!!! Kellie used strips of Memory Box 6X6 papers on white cardstock and then cut these just so to get these cute stripey bookmarks. She decorated them with Memory Box stamped images, Twinklets, and some pretty ribbons. How sweet! The perfect treat to tuck into a Valentine for the Book Lover on your list!

Sunny day??? Your Maine Stamper is OPEN today!

I'm so anxious to get out of the house that I'm heading to YOUR MAINE STAMPER as soon as Lydia opens this morning! Cabin Fever has struck!!! I don't know how many more of these three-day snowstorms I can handle! :-)

I know that packages arrived by UPS--hooray, UPS guy!--on Tuesday, so there are lots of new goodies to unpack. The Basic Grey Sugar Rush and Origins papers are here in 12X12 and in 6X6 packs. House Mouse also came in--adorable, as always, and only a few of them this time. There are new Dew Drops to get us thinking spring in colors called Easter and Gumdrops, perfect embellishments that adhere easily with Diamond Glaze, Glossy Accents, or even our favorite Scotch Tacky Adhesive. I have no idea what else was in the boxes. Can't wait to find out!!!

I'll be putting together an order for the newest Memory Box stamps and papers today, too. The What's Inside the Box Collection is amazing--great new papers in pale blues and greens and 17 new stamps!!! Watch the blog so you'll know when it all arrives. I'm hoping we can get it here by SuperBowl Sunday...we'll see...

Gotta pack up my stuff for this afternoon's class and check out the latest sneak peeks from CHA before I head out. Have a great day. See you later at the shop!

Happy Stamping!

SNOW DAY!!! WE'RE CLOSED!!!

Is anyone else tired of these three day snow events this month? !!! No school in Winthrop today--or anywhere else, it seems--so we are closed. Hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow (I think there's a song in there), we'll be open, and I'll get to teach my Valentine Treats class.

Have a great day. Be careful shoveling the white stuff. Think I'll spend as much time as I can in my studio space today.

Happy Stamping!

On Saturday we are celebrating the Memory Box Valentine's Studio release all day. There will be a free Valentine Make It/Take It between 10 and 1 with me, Anne Thompson from the Memory Box Design Team. MEMORY BOX VALENTINE'S STUDIO IS HERE!!!

Connie and I were soooo excited when the Memory Box Valentine's Studio items arrived yesterday morning!!! Eight new stamps! New notecards and envelopes in two sizes (20 per package each) in Pearl sparkly pink, Blossom matte pink, and Azalea sparkly deep rosy color! New pearls in Hot Pink and White! Sparkly Diamond Jewels in clear and red! Once we priced the items, I had the most fun arranging them on the Memory Box shelves and the wall displays. The samples they sent are amazing! Oh!--There are new papers, too! Lots of Gossamer 6X6 packs in yummy pale pinks/greens/purples! Three new 12X12s--Happenstance, Cool Beans, and Flitter! Great papers that work well for scrapbooking and for cards--you can easily make at least four beautiful cards from each sheet. They also work as great background for the new images!

I can't wait to start my Valentine classes next week! Monday we'll do the Bag and Tag book and the Heart Ornaments. There are two spaces left in this class, so call the store (377-4829) to hold a seat. ($15, 1-3 PM)

Saturday the 16th is the Memory Box Valentine's Studio release event at the store! Free make and take: Valentine Tag Card! Hopefully by then I will have the sneak peeks for What's Inside the Box--another fifteen new stamps and lots of new papers and card colors! These won't even be available until after the 20th, but I'm hoping we can take pre-orders on that Saturday.

By the following Monday (Jan. 18) the tiny pails should be in so we can decorate those as well as treat bags, candy wrappers, etc. It'll be a sweet treats class. Still some spaces left.

The 25th it's Memory Box Valentines using the new papers, cards and envelopes, pearls and jewels, and all of the stamps!

Stop into the store and pick up everything you need to make your valentines! In addition to those things from Memory Box, the front table is loaded with stamps, Stickles in Cotton Candy Pink, inexpensive spools of ribbons in pinks and red, Felt Fusion Hearts from Queen & Co, in pink and red (sticky-backed and lovely!), and more!!!

If you haven't yet seen the papers from Webster's Pages, they are on the second front table along with the Memory Box 12X12s. Beautiful! Connie's card samples illustrate how you can get 4 very different cards from one sheet of paper.

Can you tell that I'm excited about all the great stuff in the store right now?!!!

Happy Stamping!

News from YOUR MAINE STAMPER 1/4/10

New Valentine paper! Kraft and a lovely rich red! Vintage Valentine images! LOVE IT!

Stamp-of-the-Month for January! Seven left--and it's only the 4th! Get yours before they are gone!

Kellie made these seven (7!) cards during class today--and she has enough stuff to take home to make at least three more! She gets the Gold Star Super Student Award! This was really fun! She used 6X6 papers from Webster's Pages, other odd paper I had left over from previous Christmas card classes, cards and envelopes from Memory Box, and the snow globe stamp from DRS. She used a glue pen and ultrafine white glitter for snow on some of them. The most fun we had was trying to make the snow globes look more snow-globe-y. For the single tree and the snowman ones, she covered the stamped images with lots of Perfect Medium and then used Faith's clear embossing powder for two layers, heating and melting in between, then added a layer of glitter and another layer of embossing powder. The results were pretty cool, though the photo doesn't really do them justice. She got a good head start on next year's Christmas cards today! Remember that the first Monday of every month I'm offering a Christmas Card Club class from 1-3 PM.

On Saturday Courtney is offering a calendar class. Call the shop to sign up and bring photos for each month of the year.

Next Monday we start our Gifts From the Heart classes using Valentine's Studio releases from Memory Box. We're starting with the Bag and Tag book that I posted on the Outside the Box blog (http://davebrethauer.typepad.com/outsidethebox/) on December 29th and also on my personal blog (http://notesfromthewoodshed.blogspot.com). We will probably also have time to make the Valentine Heart Ornaments (2 each). Samples are at the shop. Again, please call the shop to hold your space in any of my upcoming classes.

More new items in today:
pretty pink organdy-ish flowers
heart bubble stickers
heart brads in a great red
Queen & Co. felt heart sticky-backed "ribbon" in pink and in red, narrow ones and wide ones
$2 spools of ribbon--pink checks, red checks. hot pink narrow satin, lighter pink narrow satin
cardstock stickers for St. Patrick's Day
adorable blank board books in a heart shape to be papered, collaged, and otherwise decorated

I set up the Valentines table today--we have lots of new stamps, some great word stamps, and some of your favorites from last year. There's more on order and due in any day now--stamps, papers, ribbons, embossing powders, inks...keep checking the blog to see what's new!

Happy Stamping!

Snow Photos at My House Today, Sunday the 3rd

The first photo is one of a sign that Dad posted on the big maple tree in front of the house. The dam with the double waterfall is also in the front yard. It holds back a lovely pond that is pretty well iced over. The brook flows open below the dam because of the pressure from the falls, and I love the snow-capped rocks. There's a one room log cabin in the woods to the right of the brook. Dad built this cabin about 25 years ago all by himself and using only hand tools. There's a great view of the dam and waterfalls from its porch. The mice have it to themselves in the winter, snuggled into nests inside the woodstove and its tea kettle. The last one is of one of the berried hedges, this one at the end of the turnout where I park my car. Between the hedge and the trees in the background is the pond. It is really beautiful here today.

Lydia is at the store today doing inventory, and Your Maine Stamper will be open tomorrow. I'm teaching a snow globes card class tomorrow afternoon from 1-3, and there's still room if you want to show up at the last minute. ($15--we'll make as many cards as we can in two hours.) Guess I'd better get my samples finished!!!

Happy Stamping!

Saturday, Snow Day!!!

I guess by now you have figured out that all of us at Your Maine Stamper have NOT been there today. I'm getting just a little bit tired of shoveling snow. I mean, this is Day Three of this snowstorm and it looks like it's going to snow all night and into Day Four! If by some chance schools in Winthrop are closed on Monday, Your Maine Stamper will be closed as well. It's Connie's day to open the shop and my day to teach in the afternoon. But both of us live at the ends of long dirt roads and getting plowed out may still be an issue for one or both of us. If you plan to come to the shop on Monday, and there is school in Winthrop, it might be best to call first and make sure someone is there before venturing out. Connie was telling me earlier that some weatherman was calling this The Storm of the Decade--considering that it started within hours of the beginning of this decade, that's going some. But I am hopeful that this will be the storm of this winter and we won't see another one like it. I'll have a serious case of Cabin Fever by Monday! At least I'll get some crafting done this weekend, and Connie may get up to 1976 in her photo scrapbook!
